Rapé
Ceremonial blends · Amazon Basin, Brazil
Rapé (pronounced ha-PEH) is a family of finely-ground ceremonial botanical blends from the Amazon, prepared by indigenous communities and traditionally used in cultural and ritual contexts.
What is Rapé?
Rapé is a fine botanical powder made by grinding and sieving a base of tree ash together with one or more plants, each blend carrying its own character, aroma and intention. The name covers a whole tradition rather than a single recipe.
We offer a curated collection of 14 named blends — including Tsunu, Cumaru and Mulungu — each prepared in the tradition of the community that makes it.
Origin & the communities behind it
Rapé comes from the Amazon Basin, where its preparation is an art passed down through generations. The specific plants and ash vary by community and region, which is why no two blends are alike.
Our blends are sourced through direct, fair relationships so that the makers are properly recognised for their craft.
Tradition & cultural context
Across many Amazonian cultures, rapé is used in grounding rituals and moments of focus, applied with a kuripe (self-application pipe) or tepi (applied by another person).
We share rapé for its cultural and ritual significance and ask that it be approached with the respect the tradition deserves.
Formats & how it is offered
Each blend is offered in resealable 10g and 20g weights to keep it fresh. Store cool, dry and sealed.
Because every blend is distinct, we describe the dominant plant and aroma profile on each product page so you can choose with intention.
Sourcing & quality
We work directly with preparers and keep each blend traceable. Nothing is diluted or extended with filler.
Sold for cultural, educational and ritual purposes only, to adults 21+. We make no medical claims.
